THE 2012 COMPETITION
There were 30 entries last year, including many fine photographs.The judges chose the entry, "In Haylodge Park" by Ian Thorburn as the winning photograph to be printed as a new postcard for Peebles and is included in the set of winning entries which is reproduced on the following page of this web site.
Congratulations to the winner Ian Thorburn and thanks to everyone who took part in the competition.
The card is now on sale in several town centre retailers.
The first competition, held in 1995, was won by Hector Cameron and his winning card is still in print and has so far sold over 14000 copies.
The competition is held every year and the judging criteria appears below:-
Entries are not restricted to Peebles residents and individuals are invited to submit up to three 6" x 4" prints ( digital or traditional film).
The judges will be looking for:-
1. A picture which is likely to appeal to visitors and Peebleans who are looking for a quality card that is readily recognised as a Peebles scene.
2. A picture which is well designed in respect of composition, balance and light.
3. A picture which is distinctive and striking in colour.
4. A picture of outstanding clarity so that it will print successfully as a post card.
5. A picture which will add to the range of winners from previous years by being uniquely interesting.
All the entries will be exhibited during the Peebles Arts Festival.Entries may be in normal print or digital format.
All entries will become the property of the Peebles Civic Society and will be sold to local outlets.
The winner will receive 50 free copies of the card.
