Grace’s Walk – Prince’s Trust Volunteers
Lee Hollings, (BFT) had been approached in the summer by the Prince’s Trust, seeking to participate in a local venture. Their timing was just right, as we were about to start work on the creation of a short circular walk in the lower woodland area. About 11 youths were utilised over four days at Venlaw Woodland, clearing wood, landscaping and path creation. There was quite a bit of physical work, and our Convener, Drew Fraser had attended on site to express our appreciation of their efforts. Later, some waymarker signs were installed, together with a new wooden name board. The Management Committee had decided to create and name this short route Grace’s Walk, dedicating it to Mrs. Grace Davidson, who formerly owned the woodland. When she lived at Venlaw South Lodge, she had spent a great deal of time walking in the wood.
On 30th September 2006, we were pleased that Grace was able to attend and officially open Grace’s Walk. Her pleasure was obvious and made the project so worthwhile.
