BFT Trainees

BFT - valuable assistance

Over the months since the middle of 2009, many and varied woodland management tasks have been undertaken at Venlaw by a group of trainees under the auspices of Borders Forest Trust, and supervised by Lisa Brydon, BFT Community Woodland Officer. As well as providing the trainees with some valuable core skills and experience for future employment opportunities, the training and practical work has been of great assistance to Venlaw Community Woodland in helping its members to conserve and enhance this much valued local amenity.  Additionally, Lisa has at times been accompanied by a team of volunteers.   Tasks have included thinning out trees, controlling ragwort, and cutting back areas of overgrowth and scrub control.  This invaluable assistance from trainees and volunteers is acknowledged with grateful thanks, as is the ongoing beneficial support readily provided by Borders Forest Trust.
