The 4th Stick workshop was held in Cumnock, Ayrshire in October'11.
We had a full house of 50 people, all had the opportunity to watch champion stickmakers at work, ask questions and seen the many methods and techniques of stickmaking.
Demonstrators were Dane Love, Ayr, Philip Roskell, Moffat, Martin Trinder, Dumfries, Drew Oliver, Newcastleton, Joe Peart, Newcastleton, Arthur dent, Doune, and Chip Carver - Colin Shand from Inch, Aberdeenshire.
The 2010 Stick Work shop was held at Crailing Hall near Jedburgh, on Sun 24th Oct'10
It was an excellent opportunity to see our champion stickmakers pass on their skills and answer any questions our attendees had on the craft of stickmaking.
Demonstrations included Bulking & shaping Buffalo/Rams horn, Cw horns, Fish/birds heads, Straightening shanks, Thistle and Wood sticks.
The Demonstrators were Mr Arthur Dent, Doune, Mr Dane Love, Cumnock, Mr Drew Oliver, Newcastleon, helped by Mr Joe Peart, Mr Philip Roskell, Moffat, and Mr Martin Trinder, Dumfries, all very prestigious men of their craft.
The event cost was £25.00 which included breakfast and light lunch.
56 people attended to see the skills being passed on.
