Melrose in Bloom

One of our main activities over the summer months is keeping our hanging baskets and planters well watered and fed.  A small army of volunteers is mobilised for this with teams of two going out each morning and evening on a rota which is a miracle of organisation, juggling everyone's holiday and other commitments.

Our faithful watering vehicle 'Rosie' is vital to this operation.  The picture shows Maggie and Geraldine out on their round.  Thanks are due to all the local businesses who sponsor Rosie with their advertising boards on the vehicle. 

At the end of the season we hold a Waterers' Party as a thank you to all these volunteers and this year 42 people attended the party on  7 October in the Parish Church hall.  A delicious buffet was provided by yet more volunteers and the evening was a great success.
