Friday 17th February, 2012
Melrose in Bloom were delighted to be invited to a Civic Reception held by Scottish Borders Council in the Ormiston Rooms, Melrose on 14 February. David Parker, Leader of the council, along with Alasdair Hutton, Convenor of the council praised the group for its achievements in its 10 year history and read out a list of the awards that we had won which even we have to admit was impressive. Particular praise was both given and received for the partnership between Melrose in Bloom and the council which was been a major contributory factor in our success.
35 members of Melrose in Bloom attended the reception along with local councillors John Paton-Day and Nicholas Watson. A very enjoyable time was had by all.
However, there is no time to rest on our laurels as the challenge of 2012 is our participation in Britain in Bloom and plans are already being discussed for all the work that will be involved.
