Several organisations and many individuals have helped us financially or in other ways throughout our project. Some contributions have been donations while others have been indirect by paying for trees, tubes, stakes and other equipment. Also, many volunteers have helped with planting and other work on the site. We are most grateful to all of those who have assisted us, as without such support we would have been unable to progress.
Some of the major contributors are noted below.
Financial Support
The money needed to purchase the site from the Forestry Commision in 2007 came from 3 main sources:
Significant donations were made by Roger Parry in several years as part of the carbon offsetting programme of GMP Print Solutions.
A grant was made to allow us to put in plastic barriers in drainage ditches as part of the raised bog restoration.
A grant was made by WREN to enable us to create ponds.
Technical Support
Staff at Borders Forest Trust provided initial advice and wrote a substantial part of our first management plan. Other stafff have assisted with tree planting and have brought groups of volunteers along for maintenance work.
