WHO ARE WE?
We currently have 78 individual Members, mostly living in the Scottish Borders, but with a few from further afield. We also receive generous support from employees of Borders Health Board through their Payroll Giving scheme.
We are privileged to have as our Hon. President The Rt Hon Lord Steel of Aikwood, and as our Hon. Vice President Dr Dorothy Logie, of Bowden.
The Office Bearers and Committee Members are elected each autumn at our AGM, and currently comprise:
Chair: Dr Morag Brown, Tweedbank
Vice-chair: Dr Oliver Eade, Melrose
Secretaries: Mrs Isabel Gordon, Kelso; Mrs Cath Robertson, Earlston
Bookkeeper: Mr Tim Usher, Ancrum
Committee: Mr Robert Fraser, Galashiels; Dr Moreen Gordon, Melrose; Rev Denise Herbert, Newport on Tay; Ms Mig Moore, Tweedbank; Mrs Nancy McNicol, Jedburgh; Mrs Elise Ross, Kelso
The Office Bearers and Committee usually meet six times per year, to organise publicity, events, fundraising, and of course the disbursement of funds to AIDS-related projects in Africa.
SOME OF THE PROJECTS WE HAVE SUPPORTED
All projects are known personally to SBAAG Members, and our donations go directly to the projects. The total disbursement each year is in the order of £15000.
With more money we could do more. Please support us.
All admin costs are covered by Members' subscriptions.
All donations go 100% to Africa, to known individuals or organisations.
