Have Fun and Learn Scottish Country Dancing

There are clubs located all around the Scottish Borders where you can learn Scottish Country Dancing.  Each club has a teacher and will welcome beginners and experienced dancers alike.

Scottish country dancing is fun, lively, sociable and keeps you body and your brain fit.

Most dances are done in sets of eight people and comprise of a series of formations linked together.  At the classes you will learn these formations, the steps, phrasing and timing.  After practicing the dance, the music will start and off you go!

Dancers are very supportive to beginners and you will be given lots of help.  Some clubs will have an early session at the beginning of the class especially for beginners to get extra tuition.

During the autumn and spring terms there are dances, hosted by one of the clubs, on Friday nights, usually with live music performed by a great band.  Once you have mastered the basics you can go along and join in the fun.
