What can volunteers do?
Peebles Players is community group run by volunteers. Members come with carers, who often change, due to working different shifts. The core group of volunteers provide a reliable support for activities and the players are always delighted to work with these special friends.
There is an on-going need for volunteers at the Monday afternoon sessions - just to join in - to sing along - to help set up equipment - set out the chairs - prepare refreshments - help in little tasks like taking off a coat - to encourage the anxious - and have a lot of fun!
We always welcome volunteers on an occasional basis too. There is no need for specialist music skills - our work is very basic and suited to people with very limited abilities! However, anyone with musical experience is more than welcome and we love to use anything you can offer.
When the Players are preparing for a presentation in the theatre there are numerous other tasks for which we need help. We are glad to have anyone who might help with scenery or props or just to come to boost the singing for a limited period.
Peebles Players is a charity and always looking for ways to find funding for basic running costs and maintenance of instruments. Volunteers can help here too. The Players enjoy fund raising themselves by busking in the Arts Festival.
Please look in at the Eastgate Studio on a Monday - even if only for one session. The Players would love to share their music with you and even a little interest in our activities is so very much appreciated. Monday sessions start at 1.30pm but there is a lot to do to set up the equipment beforehand so any help is valued from around 1.00pm.
You will be sure of a welcome and it is always a fun!
