Cheviot Learning Community partners are working with young people, adults and community groups to promote improved life chances and wellbeing.

We work in a range of different settings including voluntary sector, arts, schools, youthwork, adult literacy, work with parents and health projects, much of it in partnership with the Council's department of Community Learning and Development.

We are all involved in work which includes learning and personal development and which makes stronger communities.

Discover Kelso Mural created by Broomlands Primary with Kerry Jones from Ruffled Feathers, as part of the education programme with the Town Heritage Initiative. Cheviot parents achieve with SQA qualifications: mums from Jedburgh and Kelso with their new SQA awards. Adults can study for qualifications in English or Maths up to Level 4, with short units available in Calculation, Writing, Measuring and more - a good step for anyone who missed out on qualifications first time round - for whatever reason. Abbeyrow Centre Committee have successfully installed a new downstairs kitchen area: developing local services in response to priority needs.

Howdenburn parents rolled up their sleeves to participate in Flying Start, a 6 week course on learning through play. Cheviot learner and tutor both nominated for award

The Borders Adult Learners Awards takes place each year to celebrate the achievement of adult learners in the region. Entry is open to post-school learners who are currently resident in the Borders. The Awards aim to recognise the achievements of adults who, at times against considerable odds, take their future into their own hands and benefit from the opportunities available to enhance their knowledge, quality of life and job prospects.

Adult Learner Awards 2015. This year Cheviot student Lisa Galbraith (Right) was nominated for her studies in computers, maths and English. She also nominated her tutor, Patsy Watt so congratulations to both Lisa and Patsy on their achievements!
