What is Online Borders?

It is a community website which provides information on local organisations, clubs, groups and services across the Scottish Borders. It includes information in a searchable Directory with links to Community Websites where groups, organisations or services have a website. It also has a section where you can respond to local consultations.

Online Borders is a free resource for everyone. It is free to be listed and free to use.

Online Borders is developed and maintained by its main partners who are represented on a Board. These include: NHS Borders, Scottish Borders Council, The Bridge and Community Websites.

Funding for the current site was part provided by LEADER.

What sort of information can I find on Online Borders?

Online Borders holds information about 1343 organisations offering services in the Scottish Borders. These include: Voluntary and Community Groups, Community Learning groups and services and Care and Support services.

We record the name of an organisation, contact details (name, address, telephone number, email and website addresses), general information about what the organisation does and the geographical area it covers..We also link to Googlemaps to show where the service is located.

You can easily search the entire Directory to find out about a particular organisation, or to find a number of organisations working in a particular field or geographic area.

All registered users can upload content to the Community News section which highlights local events, updates and news from around the Scottish Borders. Follow the onscreen instructions to add an item of News. Your item will not show immediately as they have to be approved by a Board member.

How up to date is Online Borders?

Online Borders is constantly updated. Each entry indicates when the details were last updated. This will be no more than 12 months.

How can an organisation be included in the Online Borders Directory?

If you run a ‘not for profit’ organisation offering activities or services in the Scottish Borders, you can request a free listing in our directory.

To request a listing:

Join Online Borders as an individual member and then log in to add your organisation to the Directory using the form provided.

To edit an existing Directory entry:

Join as a member and send us an email stating your username and the name of the organisation you would like to edit.

New Directory entries or changes to existing entries will not show immediately as they have to be approved by a Board member which should take no longer than one week.

How can I get a Community Website for my organisation?

Join Online Borders as a member and fill in our online registration form. Once you have returned the form, we will contact you to arrange training.

How do the Consultations Work?

If you are a ‘not for profit’ organisation and want to conduct a consultation on Online Borders please email contact us.

If you want to respond to a consultation on Online Borders fill in the form which is provided with each consultation and either print and post it, submit it via the website or email it to the consultation contact person.
