The latest Members' Newsletter can be seen by clicking on the links below. It is presented in two parts due to the limitations of the webpage system.
Please do open these Newsletters, if only to see the splendid pictures which show the wonderful way in which our modest support enables worthwhile results!
Unfortunately due to pressure of time we have not been able to produce a Newsletter for Summer 2012, but we will resume as soon as possible. But of course our work continues meantime as usual ....
Meantime here is a short update on one of our projects:
SBAAG helps to Sustain Hope for Street Children in Malawi
Malawi, in Central Africa, is one of the poorest countries in the world. 54% of the population live below the poverty line.
There are approximately 1million Aids orphans in Malawi - in a population approaching 15 million.
In Zomba, a city in Malawi, SBAAG is supporting Aids orphans who are also homeless. Through funding 68 Aids orphans are offered a place in school, school uniform and nourishing food throughout the school day. 38% of these are girls.
Seven orphans no longer return to begging on the streets, but seek manual jobs after school. Some have already progressed to secondary school.
The inspiration behind all this, the Very Rev. Dr. Silas Ncozana writes -
“The hope is that our street kids will soon become bread earners and useful citizens.”
This Project has been visited by members of SBAAG. It is life changing for these children offering them a brighter future, as long as funding is sustained. There is hope also that soon a shelter may be built to accommodate street children who have not anywhere safe to sleep at night.
