Community safety can be defined as
People are safe from crime, disorder, danger, and free from injury and harm; communities are socially cohesive and tolerant; and, are resilient and able to support individuals to take responsibility for their well-being'
Community Safety Panels aim to raise awareness of community safety issues and take action to reduce these issues in local communities. The principle objective being 'to make the Scottish Borders a safer place to live, work and visit'.
The Scottish Borders Joint Community Safety Panel is made up of representatives of each of the five area Community Safety Panels in the Scottish Borders.
