Photographic Competition 2011
Peebles Civic Society is delighted to announce this year's winner of its annual competition to find a new postcard for Peebles. Ian Thorburn's striking and unusual photograph of Haylodge Park, with Fotheringham Bridge in the background, was judged to be a worthy winner for 2011.
Many congratulations to Ian.
The card is now on sale at retail outlets in Peebles.
An exhibition of all the 2011 entries and the previous winners has been mounted on the Peebles Library stairs.

Letter in Peeblesshire News on 1 July 2011
Peebles Civic Society Chairman, Ronald Ireland, had a "Letter to the Editor" published in the Peeblesshire News on 1 July 2011 in which he corrected a statement printed in the newspaper on the subject of a Second Bridge for Peebles. Presentations
At the recent AGM of the Society the Chairman, Ronald Ireland, presented Barry Teasdale and Paul Jennings with books to mark their retiral from the PCS Committee. Barry had offered many years of service to the Society and had acted as Secretary for part of that time. Paul had held the post of Treasurer for twelve years and had attended well to the financial work of the Society as well as setting up and running the Society's web site during recent years.

Next PCS Committee Meeting
The next meeting of the Committee will take place in The Burgh Chambers at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 20th. September, 2011.

Peebles Civic Society’s winter programme of public meetings will recommence in October/November 2011 before which a new syllabus will be published and issued to members.

The James Grieve Plaque
The plaque, which forms an additional point to the Peebles Town Walk, has been unveiled at a point on the Northgate, Peebles close to the shop named The Couchee Righ. The ceremony for the unveiling took place on Thursday 21 October, 2010 at 10.00 am when Mrs Mary Reid of U3A performed the unveiling after a welcoming and informative introduction by Ronald Ireland, Chairman.

Membership of Peebles Civic Society
The Committee is currently running a membership drive and it is hoped that local people who have received a letter from the Chairman will respond and become members of the Society.
Membership is open and anyone wishing to join will find an application form on a page of this web site.
