Our summer BBQ this year was blighted by the only serious rain to be seen in weeks. However Eckford hosts Ray & Candy Jones and residents were undeterred and went ahead anyway. It was a great opportunity for new residents Mark & Lucinda Higginson to become aquainted with their neighbours.
We also had a warmly welcomed surprise visit from Lena Buchanan and her family from Argentina. Lena (aged 84) made the trip to see where her great great grandfather had once lived. He was the Rev Joseph Yair, minister of Eckford Parish Church for 63 years until his death in 1892. Although she was unable to see inside the church during her visit she was shown memorabelia that is now in the safe keeping of Eckford Village Hall. Internal photos have also been sent to her. She was accompanied by her son and daughter and three of their children.
