Eddleston Primary School The crescent-shaped school provides a great education for the children of the village and surrounding areas. It is a lively school and the children get involved in a lot of community projects. They also provide the talented choir for the family services at the local church.
Eddleston has had a school in the village for more than 200 years. From a school roll in the 1880s of 85, this reduced in the early 1980s to fewer than 40 and the school was threatened with closure.
Fortunately since then, two new housing developments have reversed the trend and provided us with a new school. We now have a lively village school with 3 teachers and more than 60 children ranging in age from 4 to 11. The bell from the old school is still used to herald the start of the day School Holiday Dates - all Inclusive - In Service Day - Monday 18th August 2008

Consultation period now closed and responses will be collated over the summer Well Done Eddleston Primary Our village school has received a very good report from HM Inspector of Education following a 5 day review in February last year. The inspectors met with staff, pupils and parents and we are delighted to report their views that the school serves the community well and that the staff provide a caring and supportive learning environment for our children who, they say, are happy, well motivated and well behaved! Click on the link below to see the full report
Last year, our village school received 100% in Reading, writing and maths! Figures recently released by the Education Department show Eddleston topping the list of Borders Schools - an honour they share with Channelkirk which has been saved from closure following a high profile campaign. While we always have to look at statistics with caution, pupils, teachers and parents have much to be proud of - WELL DONE!
