And to all those who sponsored Animals and supported the fundraising events.
Whitsome Village Hall Association Management Committee is very grateful to all those above for their support in allowing Whitsome to achieve such an excellent community building.
The committee, with support from local people, has worked hard to raise £16,290.
A proportion of this has been raised by a band of hardworking volunteers who organise the annual Whitsome Village Fair. Not only does the Fair raise money for the Ark but it gives a really fun social day out for locals and visitors alike. Committee members have also organised quiz nights, auctions and other events to raise funds. The support of local people attending these events is much appreciated by the committee.
Volunteers from the committee act as marshalls for the Caledonian Challenge. This event is organised by the Scottish Community Foundation and it raises huge sums of money for Scottish Charities. The marshalls elected to have their fees paid directly to the charity of their choice. Whitsome Ark has benefited greatly from the efforts of these volunteers.
The hall committee members have also sold Scottish Passports at the Border.
One unusual fundraising idea is animal sponsoring. This idea arose because of our building being called the Ark. People are invited to sponsor illustrations of animals. There is a huge range of animals and even a pets corner for those under 14 years. Sponsors receive a certificate featuring a picture of their chosen animal and their name is added to a chart in the hall.
You are welcome to become a sponsor:
You can download a copy of a letter fully explaining the idea,a list of animals and pets and print a copy of the form at the foot of the page.

Whitsome village has recently had a new wifi system installed so that we now have broadband speeds up to 6MB per second compared with the 0.5 MB per second previously available.
Thanks to the local residents who succeeded in attracting special LEADER funding to enable it to happen.
Whitsome Ark can now offer access to this Wifi to hall users which is an added attraction to an already attractive building.
