What have we achieved as a group?
LARRY: Gained more confidence.
ELLY: We have gained trust in each other and that has helped us to feel comfortable in speaking to each other.
A feeling of achievement seeing what we've put together.
LOTTIE: As a group we have worked together. We all put our thoughts down on paper, then we sit and discuss it. To me working in a group you meet good friends and you know they are just like you, wanting to learn.
What obstacles have we faced? How have we overcome them?
LARRY: Nerves. Getting to trust others.
ELLY: Shyness. Lack of confidence. By coming consistently to the group and enjoying the company of people who feel the same.
LOTTIE: Facing up to it -THAT I NEED HELP. Once I got to it they made me feel at home. I hid it for a long time, I thought I could get by. PLEASE HELP and I got it.
What have we gained learning together?
LOTTIE: It has made me come out of the cupboard.
ELLY: My conversation skills have improved.
Have we been able to use our experience to help other people?
LOTTIE: I have two grandsons at school so I came to learn where I could help them with reading and writing. As a group we hope our website will help others who have the same problems.
KATH: Doing work at the school, working with children and interacting with teachers and staff.
What are our plans for the Future?
LOTTIE: To keep learning and get a lot better.
ELLY: I would like to improve my computer skills and look towards more qualifications.
