Cuddy Action Group

Who are the Cuddy Action Group?

We are a group of local people who love wildlife and Peebles.

We are best known in Peebles for the Cuddy Clean Ups. However there is a lot more to us than that. We have already run some exciting projects and have more plans for the future.

These include:-

• The Cuddy BioBlitz (25th & 26th May 2012)  was a two day event involving school children and members of the public to record the wildlife and nature that can be found in and around the Cuddy.
• The Memory Bank Project aims to record the stories of the Cuddy in the days of the mills and the railways before those memories are lost forever.
• Through the Conservation Projects we aim to make the Cuddy more accessible for environmental education and link it to other pathways within the town.
• As part of our Local Learning Links initiative our volunteers work with local schools to provide additional support and resources for Citizens Science , John Muir Awards and Eco Schools.

We also monitor new development along the banks of the Cuddy to ensure that  wildlife and the natural beauty of Peebles is not adversely effected.

Although we have been caring for this area for the last 10 years we are only following on in the footsteps of the Callants and Gutterbluids who carried out clean ups to keep the area looking good for Beltane.
