Community transport within the Borders
If you are taking your short break within the Borders, the following community transport services may be of assistance. Most of their vehicles are suitable for people with wheelchairs although you are best to discuss your specific transport needs with them. Choose the one closest to your home and remember to book well ahead of your break.

This service is for anyone in Tweeddale who is registered disabled or cannot use public transport due to a physical disability. It can be used for anything that involves transport e.g. a day trip. Members of the public/family can drive the cars if they have undergone MIDAS training.

If you are travelling within Europe you can obtain a free European Health Insurance Card which allows you to access state provided healthcare at a reduced cost and sometimes free of charge. You can apply for a card at main post offices or from the EHIC website:
