Berwickshire Association for Voluntary Service (BAVS) is an independent organisation recognised by the Inland Revenue as a charity. It was established in 1971 with the task of supporting, advising and providing services to voluntary groups in an area delineated by the former Berwickshire district boundaries of the Scottish Borders Council area.
BAVS main aims are to initiate assessment of the community needs; to promote the development of new organisations and projects; to provide information, advice and administrative back-up; to assist organisations to collaborate with each other and with statutory authorities; to open up channels of communication and enable participation from the public in local affairs.
